The fact that many of the beautiful willow and oak trees in and around Christchurch were badly affected by disease was stressed by Mr ,R. B. Owen during the course of the Beautifying Association’s tour of inspection last week. Mr Owen said that the trees could, be cured by spraying,_ but although the City Council estimates for the past three years had made provision to the extent of £4OO for the purchase of a spraying plant, nothing had been done. If some action were not taken, many fine trees would be killed.
Crookes’ Lenses The hot sun means glare, and glare means squinting eyes. After many years of research Sir William Crookes succeeded in preparing a glass that reduces visible rays uniformly and screens out all the invisible discomforting ultra violet, rays. These lenses do not alter colour values and when fitted by Mr. N. H. Bailey, Consulting Optician, permit normal comfortable vision. Call at K. A. Noedl's Optical and Deaf Aid Booms, Kangitikei Street, or "Phone 7303 for appointments.—Advt.
