PERSONALITIES
Mr. A. H. Vile, of Wellington, visited Palmerston North yesterday. Following are guests at the Hotel Imperial: Mr. and Mrs. Davies, Mrs. J. S. McCulloch, Mr. W. E. Andrews, Mr. D. D. Stibbons (Wellington), Mr W. G. Robertson (Hastings). Mr. Herbert Sutcliffe, the famous crickotor, arrived in Wellington by the Wanganella yesterday. Asked if he had anything to say, Sutcliffe reminded the Pressmen that all members of the M.C.C. team had signed a contract to say nothing to the Press about cricket. “I can tell you, though, I am delighted to bo in New Zealand.” Suteliffo is bound for a Poverty Bay sheep farm. The Palmerston North Savago Club and the Palmerston North Golf Club on Saturday evening tendered a farewell social to Mr. H. C. C. Gregory, who has been transferred to the Wanganui branch of the Commercial Bank of Australia. At a suitable juncture Eangatira N. 11. Mackie and Mr. T. P. Hart expressed regret at the departure of Mr. and Mrs. Gregory. As a token of appreciation the guest of honour was presented with a handsome caso of pipes.
