A charming little ceremony was performed during the Anglican church service on Sunday afternoon, when Colin Spencer, infant son of Mr and Mrs. D. S. Holdaway, was baptised by the Eev. V. A. Bianchi, vicar of Pahiatua. Accidents ‘ Mrs. F. W. Groves received a painful injury as the result of being stung on the anlde by a honey bee early last week. The swelling spread steadily up the muscles of the leg to the knee, causing much discomfort and inconvenience and necessitating complete rest for a few days. The swelling had however disappeared on Sunday morning. An unfortunate accident befell Mr. C. Garlick on Friday afternoon. When in the act of crutcliing some sheep he had the misfortune to cut his knee with the point of his shears. The extent of the cut was such as to necessitate surgical attention and the insertion of stitches. Personal Mrs. C. Greenwood, late of this district, now of Day’s Bay, Wellington, who with her small daughter Patricia is spending a short holiday with Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Simmons, of Mangamutu, was a visitor to Mokomoko at the week-end. Under the able leadership of Mrs. F. C. Ebbett, a quartet of musical members of our Women’s Institute is engaged in practicing glees for the entertainment of their fellow members at next Thursday’s meeting. Tenns The members of the local tennis club played a match against Tutaekara Club on Saturday afternoon on the Makomako courts. South cricket match (the first innings of which was played on March 5 and resulted in a win for South by 60 runs to 52), the second innings was played at the week-end in Mr J.
