The monthly meeting of the executive of the Milson Progressive Association was held in the Milson hall on Sunday morning, Mr. J. Donaldson in tho chair. Other members present were Messrs F. Grigg, Iv. Bruce, A. Franlclyn, S. Barclay, T. Gumming and H. Dewhurst (secretary). An apology for absence was received from F. Bartlett. It was decided to apply to the District Engineer of Railways for posts and wire to erect a fence from the tennis courts to the school fence. It was decided to take action against offenders for parking motor cars on footpaths, also against any offender for running motor lorries on the footpath for the unloading of wood, etc., over the fences. Tennis.

A return tennis match was played betweon Milson and Hokowhitu Clubs during the week-end on tho Hokowhitu courts. The visitors were entertained to a dainty afternoon tea and a very enjoyable afternoon’s sport rosultcd. Tho results are as’ follow, Hokowhitu members being mentioned first: Men’s singles: H. Greer beat Emms, 6 —4; G. Greer beat Donaldson, 6—o; N. Hansen beat Brown, 6—2; J. Quigan lost to Taylor, 4 —6; A. Sweetman beat Grigg, 6 —4; M. Greer beat Dunn, 6—4.

Ladies’ singles: Miss A. Quigan beat Miss Fairburn, 6—5; Miss B. Amos beat Mrs. Emms, 6—4; Miss L. Freeman lost to Mrs. Brown, 3 —6; Mrs. Pettigrew lost to Mrs. Dunn, 1 6; Miss E. Quigan beat Mrs. Tarr, 6 4; Miss C. Bennett lost to Mrs. Barclay, 2—o.

A cricket match was played during the week-end between teams representing Woburn Stores and Palmerston North Railways. The Woburn team arrived by the Auckland express on Saturday night and were shown the sights of the city by members of tho Palmerston club and were also entertained to afternoon tea on Sunday. The team left by the excursion train on Sunday evening. They expressed their thanks to the Palmerston team on the way in which they had been treated and expressed a desire to visit Palmerston North again in the near future. Mie match was won by Palmerston and was played in a most sporting spirit by both teams, Woburn, batting first, scored 130, Palmerston following with 260. The teachers of the three Sunday Schools managed the catering and sports programme for the day. The Rev. D. J. Davies, vicar, was also in attendance and helped towards making the day a very pleasant one. Races were run according to the children’s ages and a good programme was got through during the day.
