Tennis,

On Saturday, teams representing Mount Richards Road and Piri Piri met at Piri Pin in a friendly match. Messrs. C. Searle and S. Roberts kindly lent their tennis courts for the occasion, and under perfect weather conditions some very fine sets were played. A number of visitors were present and great interest was displayed in the games. The brilliant sunshine and beautiful bush setting made the day enjoyable for both players and onlookers, and a palatable luncheon and afternoon tea served by the ladies present completed the success of the day. Mr. C. Beano, on behalf of the Piri Piri players, took an opportunity to thank Mount Richards team for journeying over for the match, whilo Mr. Frank Roberts suitably responded for Mount Richards, mentioning that some fine gam/s had resulted for both teams. Ho stated that it appeared the two teams were almost evenly matched, as at the tirno the scores stood at nine sets each. At the conclusion of the day, Piri Piri won by, a margin of two sets, the results being as follow: —Piri Piri: 11 sets, 141 games. Mount Richards Road: 9 sets, 146 games. Ladies’ singles: Miss E. 'Wingate beat Miss A. Roberts, 7 —3; Miss E. K. Wingate lost to" Mrs. C. Searle, 6 —B; Miss M. Wingate beat Miss J. Searle, 7—3.

Men’s singles: F. Roberts beat W. Organ, 9—4; A. Roberts lost to C. Searle, 4—9; R. Port beat M. Searle, 9—2; L. Duffy lost to Iv. Searle, 8—10; J. Stevens lost to 11. Mackenzie, —l3; J. Wingate beat Iv. Gupwell, 9—7.
