The weather was fine and warm and there was a large attendance for the third day of the V.R-.C. autumn meeting. Phocis led all the way in the Autumn Hurdles and his rider, Fullerton, was associated with the gelding’s win last week.

Winooka made amends for his Newmarket defeat with a brilliant win in the Leonard Stakes. He was not extended, and his rider, Pike, won the event previously on Grecnline, which ran unplaced on Saturday. Gaine Carrington registered Ms first Victorian win, leading throughout in the Lloyd Stakes to beat tho fastfinishing Ivuvera. The winner is now trained by Cecil Godby and owned by the bookmaker, J. Phillips. Topical won the Cup with a brilliant finishing run on the. rails and he scored in the last few strides. His trainer, the veteran, W. Kelso, won tho Melbourne Cup with Statesman. Topical's rider, Ivnox, was second with Varramba in the Melbourne Cup. Yarramba was well fancied on Saturday but ran badly. Windbag, the sire of Topical, also got Winooka.

Shakuni, trained by the former New Zealander, George Price, was prominent always and won the Ascot Vale narrowly. The time, 1.11, is the fastest ever recorded by a juvenile at Flemingten.

The Adelaide representative, Magna Chart.a, finished brilliantly in the Farewell Handicap and won in the last stride. The runner-up also is owned and trained in Adelaide. G.
