Northern Bowling, Tennis And Croquet Club
MEMBERS CONGRATULATED
A very pleasant little interlude took place in the pavilion at tho Northern Club’s greens this .afternoon, when some 50 players partook of a dainty afternoon tea and the president of tho club, Mr. J. C. Young, took occasion to compliment Mr. Harold Stallard on winning the Manawatu Bowling Centre's singles competition, thereby bringing honour to his club as well as to himself. Mr. Stallard, who was also the recipient of a buttonhole from the ladies, suitably responded. Mr. Young, in complimenting another member of the club, Mr. F. C. Bryan, on winning the B grade handicap competitions at croquet, referred to his varied sporting career as footballer, tennis player, golfer and one of the Northern Club’s leading bowlers. Mr. Bryan was unfortunately detained by a business engagement and Mrs. Bryan returned thanks.
sho opportunity was then taken by Mr. Young to give some particulars of .he garden party being held by the Northern Club on its grounds later in the month, competitions by the various sections being undertaken in the afternoon and in tho evening many attractions have been arranged, the chief of svliick will bo dancing on the lawns.
