The has occurred of Professor George Saintsbury; aged 88. The deceased was reputed to have reatf probably more books than any living man. He wa3 Professor of English Literature at Edinburgh University until his resignation in June, 1914. In 1904 he completed his “History of Criticism and Literary Taste in Europe,” and in 1910 he published the third volume of “History of English Prosody.”
