What Can be Done With Lemons
Lemons are so extraordinarily u'snful that tho housowifo must seo she never run 3 short of any. They give a pleasant flavour to puddings, cakes, and cold sweets. Lemon pios, lemon sponge cakes, steamed and boiled lemon pudding's are deservedly popular. The juice added to water and slightly swcotened makes a very pleasant drink, and if it is served very hot last thing at night, it helps to cure a cold. Lomon juice sweetened with honey is soothing for a sore throat. After squeezing the juice from a lemon, do not throw it away but use it to cleanse tho hands. There is nothing better than a lemon for removing fruit and vegetable stains from the hands. A freshly cut lemon rubbed over a kitchen table will whiten the wood. After washing your hair —if it is fair—squeeze the juice of a lemon into the last rinsing water. It will keep the hair light and givo it gloss. With the aid of half a lemon and some salt, dirty copper articles can bo effectively cleaned. A few drops of lemon juice in the water in which potatoes or cauliflowers aro boiled will improve their flavour.
