A meeting of the sports club w ! as held in the hall on Tuesday last. Mr. J, Q. Cameron (president) was in the chair. At the last meeting the date of the annual sports was arranged for the Bth of March, but owing to Dannevirko race meeting, which was to be held on this date, being abandoned, and Rangitikei Club applying for same, it was left in the hands of the secretary (Mr. It. Gates) to lind out whether March Ist would be more suitable. As soon as the matter is decided the revised date will be advertised. Advice has been received f rom Mr. Watson, of Levin, that he will be willing to act as handicapper. Mr. D. Fannell is to revise the age limits for the baby show and report on same at the next meeting. It was decided that everyone should pay at the gate and that all bona fide competitors should have their gate money refunded. It was also decided to appoint a clerk of scales for the horse events and that all placed riders weigh in after the event. With the exception of the school boys’.race for Mr. Lcs Hogg’s trophy, the programme will be identical with last year’s. The entrance fee for primaiy school events will be 1/- in the £ value of the prizes. On Saturday, Oroua Downs A played Foxton Fire Brigade on the former’s ground, with the result that the local team is likely to suffer its first defeat. The collapse was no doubt due to Downs, Fire Brigade bowler, who took, seven wickets for 10 runs. .Oroua Downs A are at present 128 runs behind. Playing against Foxton Druids the B team ran up the good total of 147 for 7.

On Monday (Anniversary Day) a team from Tokomaru defeated a local team by an innings and nine runs. The game, which was played on the local ground, was a very enjoyable one. Tokomaru’s victory was due to Greig’s good bowling.
