Wool Reflects Increased Exchange

CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. The hardening in the market of late and the increased exchange rate were reflected in to-day’s wool sale when 25,000 bales were offered to a representative attcridanco of buyers. Values appreciated 2d per pound for fine wools and from Id to 13d for crossbred. It was tho best sale for two years. The Continent, particularly Germany and Japan, secured most of the catalogue sold for abroad but Dominion mills were keen buyers of super lots. Competition was fierce at times and much more elasticity was noticeable in buyers’ limits. Some exceptionally good clips of Oorriedalo were offered and sold up to 14-Jd.

Medium halfbrod brought to lljd and pieces wero kocnly sought round about 9d.

The best price for halfbrod was 133 d. Pine pieces showed a i trilling advance ranging from 2d to 21 d.

As evidence of the keen character of tho sale less than 200 bales wore passed, a record at local auctions.
