From Our Own Correspondent. Quite a stormy week-end has been experienced locally, it being all the more noticeable after the recent dryspell. There have been exceptionally heavy showers every day for the past week, and conditions arc much cooler. One or two farmers were unfortunate enough to have just cut their hay when the weather broke, with the result that they have been unable to get it in, and unless the weather clears within the next few days it is feared the hay will be ruined. The continued rain will possibly account for the early appearance of mushrooms, which are getting quite plentiful around here. One settler gathered a large box full and sent them to town where they were in good demand. Miss D. Jones, who' has been spending a holiday with -Miss D. Hemmings, returned to Waipukurau last week. Miss F. O’Connor, of Feilding, is 'spending a fortnight with her sister, Mrs. M. Nesdale, Norsewood road. Mrs. J. Forbes, who has been on a visit to her mother ,at Eltham, has returned home. Mrs. A. Cawood, of Emutoi North, is visiting her mother at Feilding.
