Inquest into Tangimoana Drowning Fatality
A verdict of accidental drowning was returned by the Coroner (Mr. E. Goodbeliere) at. the inquest held at Awaliuri into the drowning at Tangimoana on Sunday last of Edward W. Webster, aged 38, an employee on the .farm of Mr. A. G. Collins, of Awaliuri. One of the deceased’s companions, Mr. Pask, stated in evidence that he had observed deceased standing in water up to his knees, but on looking round later saw that deceased had disappeared. 'Witness swam to the spot and saw Mr. Webster coming up, but. the undercurrent had proved to be too strong for him to do anything.
