Flood Menace in New South Wales
STREAMS CANNOT CARRY WATER United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright Received Tuesday, 9.30 p.m. SYDNEY, Jan. 24. The flood menace to various South Coast points continues owing to the streams being unable to carry off the abnormal rainfall. A search is proceeding for the bodies of the Stanwell Park victims. Many camping parties are fearful of further trouble and have abandoned their camps and gone home. Rail and roadway are still blocked to Stanwell Park and the neighbouring colliery centre of Coalcliff will experience some difficulty in maintaining food supplies. Overdue Schooner Causes Anxiety SYDNEY, Jan. 24The schooner Huia left Melbourne laden with explosives for Sydney, but has not been reported since passing Wilson’s Promontory on Thursday. The weather since then has delayed many large vessels. Some concern is felt for the Huia.
