Better to Abandon Remaining Tests
.WILL ONLY ENGENDER BITTEREST PEELING United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright ■Received Tuesday, 7.10 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 24. Gilligair, writing in the NewsChronicle, thinks it more than likely that the remaining Test 3 will not ho played. It would he very much better if they were cancelled than liavo glorified dogfights at Brisbane and Sydney, which would only engender the bitterest feeling, with the spirit of cricket completely forgotten. Tho News-Chronicle, in a leader, says: "If tho feeling is as vehemont as the Board of Control suggests, then tho only way out may be to cancel the remaining matches and recall tho team. It is a very deplorable one, and tho onus of demanding it is rightly left with Australia." Other newspapers and critics support Mdrylebone’s reply, and congratulate the committee on expressing themselves so forcibly. Pender declared he was glad that Marylebone had not only expressed the great faith that they all havo in the English team’s cricket sportsmanship, but” added; “There is no evidence that that confidence has been misplaced." •
