£BO,OOO A GOOD AVERAGE PRICE, SAYS LUBITSCH Ernst Lubitsch, the famous director, considers £BO,OOO a good average price for a picture. An adequately produced “super-film” •would cost much more. Lubitsch prepares his scripts meticulously before he “shoots” a scene. ‘When Igo on the set,” he said. “I want simply to make the picture that I have prepared on paper. “I spent three months on writing the script for ‘Trouble in Paradise.’ Wo wero only seven months making the picture. I regard the finished script as of the utmost importance. I have given a whole day sometimes to a single line.
Joseph I. Schnitzcr, president of Jeferson Pictures Incorporated, has announced definite plans for filming “The Hall of Justice,” first of the series he will produce independantly for RKO Radio Pictures release. Ann Dvorak has been signed for the principal feminine role. Miss Dvorak is one of the current sensations of he screen. Her first picture was “Scarfacc,” her second “Sky Devils,” and her third “The Crowd Roars.” Leo Tracy has been signed for the male lead.
