The 7th and Bth Batteries of the local defenco corps have been engaged in practice at the rifle range at Fitzherbert. There wero about 50 men present and a large amount of horsework was accomplished in preparation for tho camp later in the year. Captain Buchanan was in charge of tho 7th Battery and Lieutenant Phiip the Bth Battery, Lieutenant Joyce being chief instructor with the assistance of the permanent staff
