To-day’s Recipe
FRUIT COOKIES. Brown or white flour -Jib, shortening 4oz, brown or white sugar 3oz, eggs 1 or 2, dates or Taisins 2 or 3 f>2, nuts 1 or 2 oz, baking powder 1 raised teaspoon, milk to mix, essence to flavour, cocoanut 2oz. Grease an oven tray. Prepare the fruit. Rub the shortening into the flour; mix the dry ingredients and fruit; beat the eggs until thick; flavour with, vanilla. Add the eggs to the centre of the flour and add sufficient milk to mix to a rocky dough. Bake in a moderate oven from 10 to 15 minutes. NJ3.—Fibs, ginger, sultanas, etc,, can be used.
