Influenza Raging in Europe
Noted Surgeon a Victim SPORT AND BUSINESS PARALYSED United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received Monday, 9.50 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 23. The noted surgeon Sir Percy Sargent is the latest victim to the influenza epidemic which is spreading over Europo and is raging in Northern Franco and Brittany. Football matches have boon cancelled throughout Britain owing to the illness of players, and small shops arc displaying notices: "Closed owing to influenza."
A curious sidelight is that Oxford undergraduates have escaped though most of tho college servants arr victims.
