St. John Ambulance
PALMERSTON NORTH DIVISION’S ANNUAL REPORT The following is the report of the Palmerston North division of the St. John Ambulance Brigade for submission at the annual meeting:—“lt is indeed very pleasing to note the satisfactory condition of affairs, the division having during its first'year made good progress in spite of the prevailing economic conditions. The membership is 19 which is the same as when the division was formed. The financial position is satisfactory, and a credit of £8 11s 5d is shown, which must be gratifying when it is considered that from the outset first aid equipment had to be purchased to carry on the wo i&, and now seven members have been supplied with the standard uniform. The organising of a street day resulted in a credit of £IG Os lOd, while the holding of two benefits realised £lO 7s 6d. The balance of assets over liabilities is has 19s. The members of the division *>p.ve been in attendance at 509 public /uties and have attended 147 cases. In addition to this work the division has provided the honorary staff of the Tree Ambulance service, having done 2433 hours’ voluntary duty and assisting In 89 cases. Dr. Peach conducted the annual examination and all candidates passed, the surgeon complimenting the members on the advancement made. The annual inspection was held, the district officer (Mr. G. G. Hancox) being present, but unfortunately other duties prevented several members from attending. The thanks of the division are extended to the Palmerston North Fire Board for the use of the social hall for the holding of meetings and practices, also to our honorary surgeon (Dr. Peach), who has at all times been ready to help the division. The division would be much benefited if at. least ft further ten members who are interested in the work could be induced to join.’’
