RANGITIKEI DEFEATS FEILDING The annual match between Feilding and Rangitikei, was played at Feilding yesterday. The weather was fine, and although the wicket was soft at tlio start it dried rapidly during the day. The visitors won tbo toss and elected to bat opening with J. Marshall and Powell. With 38 on the board the first wicket fell. Harper failed to open his account but Hayward and Marshall were associated in a useful partnership but with the total at 9.9, tho former put his Jeg in front to Barltrop. The only other batsman to show form was Lambert, who hit merrily for 19. The innings closed for 159, of which J. Marshall played a splendid knock for 09. Feilding opened disastrously, the score board reading 1 when 'Wild was stumped off Duncan. Harding and Dunn carried the score to 35 when Waldin got one past Harding for 12. Dunn was npw batting splendidly, but with his score at 70 lie was clean bowled by Fullerton-Smith. Undoubtedly his innings helped Feilding to get within striking distance .of the visitors’ total, but with the score at 128 the last wicket fell. The bowling honours for Rangitikei went to Maurice Waldin, an ex Feildingite, Ills average being 5 for 20 off 12 overs. Barltrop 5 for 47, and Carter 4 for 46, secured the wickets for Feilding.
