A Bank Loan to Calgary
GRANTED TO SQUARE EXCHANGE RATES. COUNCIL PROBABLY STILL OP THE SAME MIND United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright CALGARY, Jan. 20. The Bank of Montreal has agreed to make a loan to Calgary of 300,000 dollars, which is necessary to meet the United States exchange rates on 2,135.000 dollars in debentures which matured in New York on January Ist. Major Davison received a letter today, to this effect, from the bank’s head office at Montreal, and will place it before the City Council for its decision. Mr Davison said he had no reason to believe that the Council would alter'its refusal to pay the debentures in other than Canadian funds
