Exciting Contests at Western Springs Speedway

MATTSON PAULS HEAVILY Per Press Association AUCKLAND, Last Night. Keen competition between some of the world’s finest eindor track riders was witnessed by a crowd of about 3000 people at Western Springs speedway last Saturday evening. The times were generally good and thore were many exciting contests. A. Mattson, Dominion champion, crashed heavily when his motor seized in the second event. He escaped with a bruised shoulder and took part in the later races. Tho race between E. Langton, world’s champion, and W. Phillips, challenger for the Gold Helmet held by Langton, proved one of the finest of the evening, Phillipps winning by a narrow margin after Langton had led most of the distance.
