PERSONALITIES
After nearly three years in America Mr. H. P. Daley a' young Eltham golf champion, has returned to his home. Mr. W. J. Poison, M.P., president of the Now Zealand Farmers' Union, and Mrs. Poison, are spending the holidays at “Manurewa,” Fordell.
The death occurred at his residence in Mountain road, Auckland, on Thursday at the age of 83 years, of Mr. William McKenzie Commons, a woll-known Auckland business man, at one time Mayor of Tauranga. Mr. E. M. Janion, manager of the English, Scottish and Australian Bank, is retiring on Saturday, and has been appointed a director (states a Press cable received from London). Ho is being succeeded by Mr. A. A. Skipston. A Rugby wireless message received last night states that in the interests of his health, the Prime Minister, Mr. Ramsay MacDonald, has been persuaded to postpone his departure from Lossiemouth until later than January 17, which was tho date fixed for hi 3 return to London. Sir John Simon, who has been suffering from a severe chill, is no longer confined to his room.
