DEPOSIT MADE 49 YEARS AGO FARMER’S WINDFALL HAMILTON, Dec. 20. Welcome news was received by Mr. H. W. Cleland, of Gordonton, when ho learned that a forgotten sum of money placed to his credit in the Post Office Savings Bank by relatives when he was 11 years old, was available for collection, together with accumulated interest. The amount now totals about £BO. Mr. Cleland, who received the news on his 00th birthday, signed a declaration before a justice of tho peace in Hamilton recently stating that ho was the person in whose name tho account stands. Ho had completely forgotten about the deposit, and cannot recall the amount of the original credit. He was traced through his bankers. It will be some weeks, probably, before the account is transferred to Hamilton and Mr. Cleland is able to lift tho money. Mr. Cleland has been farming a largo area in the Gordonton district for many years.
