NEGOTIATES FOR USE OF RACECOURSE AS CENTRAL FLYING GROUND The Feihling Aero Club lias made overtures to the Feilding Jockey Club for the use of the large oval on tho racecourse property as the Feildiug flying ground. Tho aero club committee has been considering the matter of securing a property nearer town, and the suggestion that the racecourse property offered an ideal site was recently taken up. The matter was placed before the committee of the Jockey Club on Wednesday night, when it was decided to set up a sub-committee to go into the whole question. The proposal is to erect a hangar on the racecourse property and also to provide refuelling equipment for visiting planes. The Jockey Club, it is understood, is sympathetic toward the proposal, but first requires an opportunity to consider just how far tho racing and horse training interests will be affected. Many questions Tcquire consideration before any opinion can be expressed, but the Jockey Club is anxious to co-opcrato with the Aero Club in its desire to obtain what is likely to prove an ideal landing field. It is Tecognised that with such a central flying ground more ’planes would visiting Feilding, and the local Aero Club, as a unit of the Western Flying Federation, would then be fulfilling a really active part in its object of promoting civil aviation.
