Japan's Railway Women
The Japanese -woman has not been left behind in tho modern race for economic independence. To tako one case alone —there are close on 10,000 women earning their living in the scrvico of the Japanese Government .Railways. These 10,000 railway women hold all sorts of positions. Somo of them arc accountants, others avo technicians, ticket clerks, baggage clerks, telephone operators, freight clerks, or hospital employees, machinists, printers bookbinders, factory hands and cooks. Evon the jobs of locomotivo and car cleaners, crossing hands, and coal and water hand's are not closed to tho sturdy women of tho coolie class.
