Convent Schools Stage Annual Concert

EXCEPTIONAL PRESENTATION AT OPERA HOUSE With 487 performers taking part, representing all classes from tho kindergarten to the secondary department, the annual concert of the Palmerston North Convent Schools was pre’sented before a large and appreciative audience at the Opera House last night. Variety was the keynote of the programme, dance, song and story being blended into a presentation that reflected the greatest of credit on both the performers and those responsible for the training of the pupils. The stage management, too, left nothing to be desired. That thcro had been careful and thorough preparation for tho concert was readily apparent, for tho children went through their work with an ease that bespoke pain'staking and capable tuition. Their training was in the hands of the Sisters, who were assisted by old girls of the school. Miss Betty Muir was responsible for the dancing. Valuable assistance was given by tho ischool committee during the period of preparation, and last night saw them again helping in many ways. Mr. F. W. Aislier was the stage manager, and he discharged Ms duties with credit.

Possibly the most attractive. item of the evening was a Maori tableau, “E PaTi Ra, Hoea Ea,” features of which were a poi danco by the girls and a haka by the boys, with Miss M.
