From Our Own Correspondent. Carnival Notes. The most interesting event in the Carnival shopping week programme on Monday was the judging by Mr. Cook, of the* C. M. Boss Co., Ltd., Palmerston North, of the special displays in the windows of the business premises of the town. This was a difficult task, so many being of a high order, but the final decisions were:—Foodstuffs section: Community Stores 1, W.F.G.A. 2; wearing apparel section: W.F.C.A. 1, A. Pringle 2; hardgoods section: W. H. Murch 1 and 2. The winners will be presented with engraved silver cups and signed certificates.' In the evening the community sin* organised by the Carnival committee was patronised to a quite unexpected extent, the King’s theatre being filled to capacity. The Sunshine Revellers Band kept things lively until the big audience was seated and then Mr. ■\V. R. Richardson undertook tho conducting and soon had everyone singing. Throughout, the evening our popular soloist, Mrs. Ivan Boyens, assisted with the leadership, this adding greatly to the happiness of tho gathering. Musical numbers were rendered by Mm Pahu and Miss Delcio Harrison, ' and Messrs Merrie and Ogg contributed -amusing items.
