A Coming-of-age Party at Sanson
E A delightful coming-of-age party was - given in the Sanson hall on Monday , night by Mr. and Mrs. T. Murphy in - honour of thep daughter Monica. Mrs. 1 Murphy received tho guests wearing a - becoming gown of black figured gcorg--1 ettc. Miss M. Murphy, tho guest of ) the evening, Wore shell pink georgette > and black lace. The hall looke.d gay > with rainbow streamers and large i bowls of roses, Exeellont music for - dancing was supplied by Mr. V. Wallis, ■ of Feilding. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mrs. W. E. Pcarco and Mr. F. Corbett. A spot waltz was won by Mr. and Mrs. F. Corbett. Between the dances items were given as follow: Recitation, Mr. A. Pedersen, skipping rope dance, Miss Lorna .Robinson (Wanganui); humorous song, Mr. J. Currie; recitation, Mrs. I. Edwards; song, Miss E. Dwyer; guitar and ukeleie duet, Misses .N. and P. Fagan; tap dance, Miss A. Bracken. A sumptuous supper was served in the supper room of the hall where ample seating accommodation had been arranged. The centre of attraction was the birthday cake which had been beautifully iced by Mrs. C. Lawrence. The usual toasts were honoured, that of tho guest of honour Doing proposed by Mr. Wahlstrom (Wanganui), who presented Miss Murphy with tho “key of the door.” Mr. F. Murphy replied on behalf of his sister. Mr. A. K. Drew, in proposing the toast to the host and hostess, Mr. and Mrs. Murphy, stated that they were both ever ready to assist with any community work. Mr. Murphy suitably replied. The toast of the grandparents was proposed by Mr. Benefield (Wanganui) and responded to by Mr. Spooner, ot Wanganui, the only grandparent present. The cake was cut by Miss Murphy. Thoso present were Mr. and Mrs. Spooner, Mr. and Mrs. Wahlstrom, Mrs. E. J. Evans, Mrs. Greenlees (Wanganui), Mr. and Mrs. A. K. Drew, Mr. and Mrs. J. W.
