Notes of the Day
The observcncc of Armistice Day at Devonport, Auckland, was probably unique in the Dominion in one ro&pocc. The wreath supplied by the Devonport Ex-Servicemen’s Club was laid on the War Memorial by the club's eldest member, Sergeant .1. Sandbrook, father of Mr. J. S. Sandbrook, of Cunninghams, Feilding and a veteran of the Crimean War. He is one of the wry few remaining veterans of that noteworthy engagement in New Zcaiauu. Coincidentally Mr. Sandbrook celebrated his 99th birthday on Armistice Day last.
The friends of Mr. E. G. Inkpen, formerly of the railway staff at Betiding and now of Whangarci, will be pleased to learn that there is some slight improvement in his condition. For 12 months past he has been confined to his bed, but recently was permitted to get up for a short while an the mornings and afternoons. Mr. M. J. Eadc is visiting nis parents in Feilding after completing his course of training at the Baptist College in Auckland. He.is taking charge of the Bcrkampore Baptist Church, Wellington, until the end of next year when he intends going out with his brother, the Rev. B. N. Eadc, to the foreign mission field in India.
