Fair and Mild Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. The barometers have remained fairly high over the whole of tko New Zealand area while the depression over South-eastern Australia is becoming gradually intensified. Winds: Variable and light to moderate at first but soon tending northerly and freshening in and south of Cook Strait. Seas (New Zealand waters): Smooth to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate but freshening north-east to north winds; seas moderate.
Weather: Fair, mild and hazy generally, but showers developing later in tho western and far southern districts of the South Island.
