Cyclists Prepare For New Season

MANAWATU A.A. AND C. CLUB ELECTS OFFICERS Mr. E. C. Evans, tho president, was in the chair at tho eleventh anuutmeeting of the Manawatu Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club, held fast evening. There was a large attendance of ■ members, the president suggesting that .the presence of so many active members augured well for the future success of the club. Report and Balance Sheet. Tho report (already published) and balauco sheet were adopted on tho motion of tho president, who said the satisfactory position of tho club could ba directly traced to the hard-working secretary and treasurer. He urged tho younger members to give the incoming executive whole-hearted support and to assist the treasurer by prompt payment of duos. He added that the club was starting tho new year with a small credit balance and ho could see no reason w r hy the club should not enjoy a successful season. Mr. Evans paid tribute to the excellent handicapping done by Mr. Crawley and Mr. Wood and suggested that the increased entry for the different races was a sure indication that the handicappcrs were giving satisfaction. He made special mention of the valuable assistance given the club by the donors of trophies. Mr. F. W. Aisher, president of the West Coast, North Island Centre, congratulated tho club on the success or the past season and on the growing popularity of the sport despite the depression. Mr. C. Turnbull added his tribute to the men who had brought the club to its present happy position. Ho hoped the club would continue to prosper.

The balance sheet disclosed the fact that the club had shown a profit of about £2 on the year’s working, a very satisfactory state of affairs. Election of Officers. Dixon; hon. treasurer, Mr. C. Stagpoole; liandicafjpers, Messrs B. Crawley. F. W. Aisher and G. Cooksiey; hon. starter, Mr. F. VV. Aisher; deputy assistant starter, Mr. O. Prouse; delegate to sub-centre, Messrs N. C. Dixon and I. Ross; timekeepers, Messrs Weston J. Smith and B. Crawley; hon. auditor, Mr. Iv. S. Glendinning; executive committee, Messrs G. Simon, J. Rush, A. Mutch, I. McKenzie, D. Rush, C. Hyde, A. Divehali, L. Ward and E. Pillenger; club captain, Mr. I. Ross; records steward, Mr. .1. Rush; classification stewards, Messrs B. Crawley, I. Ross and G. Cooksiey; property stewards, Messrs «S. Geango, J. Casey and J. Rush. New Members.

The following were elected members of tho club: Messrs lan Ross, D. Bulion, E. Aston, A. McDonald and B. Hobbs. Presentation of Trophies. After the election of officers the chairman presented trophies, won during the season, to D. Hayes (fastest times in Wednesday series), G. Little (most place-points in same series), 1. Davey (most starts in Saturday scries), W. Rogers (most consistent rider in both scries), E. Aston (most Wednesday starts), N. C. Dixon (Red Seal competition), E. Lawrence (fastest Saturday times).
