Postponement of Payment
! AMERICA MAY AGREE Suited Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. WASHINGTON, Nov. 15. Another year’s moratorium lias been given the European nations on the debt payments. This is taken as practically settled, according to the views of highly placed officials who have been conferring with President Hoover. United European Attack STRONG ANTI-POSTP.ONEMENT SENTIMENT. Received Wednesday, 10.30 p.m. WASHINGTON, Nov. 15. The receipt of the Bolgian Debt Note .to-day similar in substance to those of Britain, and France produced a general impression that others could bo expected soon-constituting a united European front against America on the question. In counteraction to this tho arrival of many additional Congressmen in Washington and tho polling of others by telegraph indicate tho crystalisation of a strong anti-postponement sentiment. Democratic spokesmen known to be in the close confidence of Mr. Roosevelt predict that he will not take the responsibility of postponement pending the consideration of the broader problem of revision. Some observers ;pow see tho possibility of the postponement of the World Economic Conference to the summer on tho chanco that the Democrats might agree to include the debts in the agenda. Indications that Congress would reject postponement proposals became pronounced today when tho Democratic House of Representatives leader, Mr. Rainey, said: “I am unalterably and always against changing the debt -situation. This moratorium is the silliest thing. There is not the slightest chance it will pass this Congress or any other.” Important Senatorial leaders give expression to their opposition, some with qualifications, including Senators Borah, Swanson, David Reed, La Folletto and Fess Bingham.
