The tax payable on beer brewed in a brewery, in Britain, is 24/- a barrel, plus a duty which increases or decreases according to the strength of the brew. Every child in British elementary schools costs about £l3 a year, wffiile in secondary schools each scholar costs over £2O a year, after deducting any Ves oaid.
