Mr Ebbett grassed the heaviest fish, a good 3i pounder.

Anyone visiting Pahiatua should remember that there is only one method of catching fish, and that is per ‘ ‘ dry Py. > ’ q’fiey live on them in that district and local anglers are apt to giin at tho minnow man. They even land them in dirty water on the “dry.” Not content with cleaning up the local clubs they are now determined to clean up the capital, and a four rod match is to be held the week-end after next. Wellington will need to fish a very strong team to be in the running.

Federation. As many questions are asked as to the intentions of the proposed federation, a short explanation of its aims and objects will not bo amiss. One ot its first duties will be the establishment of clubs in those districts where thero are at present none. By this means anglers will be brought into more direct touch with one another. The protection of anglers’ rights will be another leading factor in the Federation. This is becoming more essential as each season comes along. The supplying of information to the Acclimatisation Societies and Fish- Research departments could be brought under a much better basis than at present. The promotion of national bait casting and fly casting competitions, such as are held in England and or, tho Continent. As further information is obtained from the clubs at present in New Zealand, the rules and objects will be more clearly defined, and finally an executive will be elected to carry on with the work.
