Altered Conventions
How wedding conventions have altered! Trying on the bridal gown was at a comparatively Tocent period, as a secret rite to be witnessed only by those in the privileged family circle and tho dressmaker. Nowadays overseas friends are also invited to the fitting-room to admire and criticise. The customers in a fashionable dressmaking establishment in London were, however, rather taken by surprise recently when a bride appeared in the showroom wearing her wedding gown. It was a wonderful tight-fitting creation of pale flesh-pink satin, moulded closely to the figure.
And the bride, escorted by a friend, sauntered round the salon studying tho effect in the long mirrors, with the cool composure of the modern girl.
