FROM THE HUB

Dear Cogs. . Don't we all love surprises! And I am sure it was a very pleasant surprise for you to find a letter from Uncle Bob in the page last week. If you arc very good, perhaps he will write you another letter next week. The only time ihe really wakes up is when he is allowed to have- a game with the Oogs, and that docs not happen very often, does it? When holiday time came I simply had to go and search for some of the joys of farm-life' you have told me about, in your letters. And while I did not manage to toboggan down the hills on a cabbage tree head, I tried my best to glissade down in the mud on my two feet. There were three pups to play with, a nice little calf, and there was one lamb away out on the hills, but I did not see that. Then there were lovely trees, with birds singing all day, and a dear little creek murmuring its way over the stones. And what about the big bowls of.c.rcam, the home-made butter and bread! We city folk miss a lot. of good things, don’t we? I also" had plenty of'surprises on my (return. First, there was a sweet, box of bluo and white violets in a mossy bed, from “Larkspur,” bundles of funny papers from. Mae Stevens and Is oil Froglcy, and “Arawn.” was the first in with a knitted garment. Thank you all ever so much for your kindly thoughts and co-operation.

I think-1 am right in saying that all bn.dges and prize-moneys havo been cent out, but there arc still many knitters waiting for wool. - I-am very vexed about this, but holidays have interfered and as I shall he away again for a few days please dears be patient a little longer.

It mas pleasant to receive a visit from Beatrice Algio this week, and I am sorry to have missed .several Cogs who called while I was away.

Space is limited again this week, hut. I must remind you once' more about •writing your proper names as well as your pen names. Every week Cogs write for addresses of pen-friends or •stamp collectors, so wc are adopting a new system of dealing with these requests. You will find two important notices on the page regarding this matter.

I do hope some of you manage to attend the party of the S.P.C.A. JunioT League to-day. You will see particulars about it on the page. As all Cogs are pledged to bo kind to animals, this League is of special interest to us, isn’t it?

My very best love to you all. 'the HUB. Apiti. Dear- Hub,—l am sending in the Skilltest-and hope it is right. How arc you getting on? The frosts have been very hard, haven’t they? I must close now, with love from

Highland Laddie. I am getting along as well as old Jack Frost will let me. Your letter was squeezed out last week, but you havo' two appearing this time.
