From Our Own Correspondent. The Rongotea Town Board met on Monday night, when there were present Messrs. L. 11. Yarrall (chairman), E. J. Arnott, S, Tcaz, W. Amoy and C. P. Wood (clerk). The following motion was carried in silence, members standing: “That this meeting desires to place on record an appreciation of the splendid service rendered by the late Mr. 11. 11. Hunt to the town and district.” A letter from Mr. J. Gould requested the board to open up a drain alongside his property.—-Granted. The clerk presented the balancesheet, which showed a deficit of £l3O 4/7 at March 31. This amount had since been considerably reduced by the receipt of overdue rates. The estimated expenditure for the current year was carefully gone into, but no relief could be given this year in tho way of reduced rates.
