High Speeds in Motor Race
EARL HOWE AVERAGES OVER ,109 MILES PER HOUR. BOHEMIAN PRINCE MEETS WITH FATAL ACCIDENT United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. BERLIN, May 22. The international race on the Avus motor road. 121 miles, for cars up to 1500 c.c. was won by Earl Howe, in a Delage, averaging 109.71 miles per hour. His fastest lap was done in .G 10.35 m.p.h., and he twice lapped a field of 20 starters. The baby cars special awards Grand Prix, 184 miles, was won by von Brauschitsch, in a Mercedes Benz, averag--iiD:g 1214 miles per hour. Prince George Lobkowatz, of Czechoslovakia, was fatally injured when his car left the track and capsized. Sir Malcolm Campbell retired early, with a broken oil-pipe.
