Red Cross Society Activities
Ladies interested in hom,e nursing and first aid will bo glad to know that the Manawatu branch of the Red Cross nursing division is commencing classes in the elementary division to-day, details of which are advertised elsewhere. Classes in the intermediate division are already ' operating. During the disastrous earthquake- in Napier the necessity for a band of trained workers was realised. Unfortunately, Palmerston North did not possess such an asset 1 and consequently ) hospitals and nurses were taxed to the utmost. It was then decided to form a branch-of the Red Cross Society and commence training classes in the useful w-ork. Last year no fewer than 44 students were successful in the examination, but thore were still a large number who missed this opportunity. Those who are desirous of instruction are advised to tako advantage of this excellent opportunity and are urged to enrol with tho lecturer, Miss McGhie, matron of the Public Hospital, or the class secretary, Mrs, Campbell Aitchison, and come along /to-night.
