Miss Dudding a Finalist In Rotoua Golf Tourney

LOSES MATCH TO MRS. G. F. FERGUSON. Two Manawatu players, Mrs. H. C. Collinson and Miss D. Dudding, participated in the semi-finals of the Rotorua Ladies’ Golf Club’s tourney during the week. Mrs. Collinson was eliminated by Mrs. G. F. Ferguson (Auckland), who met and 'defeated Mass Dudding in the final, 7—5. Miss Dudding took the lead at the first, hole, 4—5, but Mrs. Ferguson squared the game at the fourth.. The fifth saw weak putting by both players, Mrs. Ferguson taking the hole 7 8, making, her one up, and this load she 1 steadily increased as the game went on. Tho short sixth was another win for the Aucklander, who holed out in 2. The seventh saw Miss Duduing slice her drive out of bounds, ana Mrs. Ferguson took the hole in 4, maxing her 3 up. At the eighth Mrs. Ferguson outdistanced her opponent by 59 yards with her drive, taking tho hole 5—6. The ninth gave the Palmeracon North player a chance, as Mrs. Ferguson found the bunker, but Miss Dudding played short and the hole was halved in 4. At the tenth Mrs. Ferguson Was on the green in 3, whereas her opponent found the bunker with her third. Mrs. Ferguson took two putts and the hole in 5 —7 (5 up). The eloventh saw the Auckland player on the green in 3, whilst her opponent made a bad drive, taking 4 to reach the green. Mrs. Ferguson scored 5 —7, making her 6 up. The twelfth was halved in 5, and the thirteenth saw Mrs. Ferguson hole out in 3 to win the hole and match, 7—5.
