Playing with K. Glcndinning in a McLennan Cup match against C. G. and H. G. Moore during the week-end, L. Seifert, Jnr. disclosed his best form, completing the course in 72. The match started at Land’s End and with 15 holes played Seifert required bogey figures at the remaining three to give him a gross 70. He took 4 at Houro’s and then missed a one-footer for a three at Eden. At Totaras his putt for a birdio three, which would have given him a 71,. stopped on the edge of tho hole. The feature of his play was his work near the fljig for on eight of the nine greens he required only the cne putt. His card read: — Out: 34435444 4—35. In: 4 4 4 5 4 4 4 4 4—37. h Open Champion Getting Into Porm. A. J. Shaw, the New Zealand open champion, was out at Hokowiiitu over the week-end, and as an indication that he will not take long to show his top form, lie went round the course in 71, a total which might have been better. Ho was hitting a long ball and was playing confidently with all his clubs. His card read:— Out: 44525454 3—3-1. In: 5 3 3 5 4 5 4 4 4—37. Nice Bound by W. A. Keeling. Partnered by T. Louisson in a 4-ball against K. Glcndinning and J. W. Hodden, over the week-end, W. A. Keeling was responsible for a good round of 75, Glcndinning taking two strokes more. Hodden was round in SO and Louisson in S2, the latter crashing at several holes. Hodden and Glcndinning took the first hole with a three, but their opponents evened at Willows. The next S holes were halved, but Keeling took Ti Ti’s with a very useful 4. Glcndinning and Hodden were down in fours to fives at Taipo to square the match. The cards read: — Keeling:—

A Two Was Not Good Enough. Playing a friendly game on club handicaps with C. Louisson last week, Trevor Louisson sank a long putt for a

two at Monro’s, lost the hole, but did not have the consolation of participating in a celebration for his father won the hole with the assistance of a stroke. Both were on from the toe, Trevor Louisson being required to putt first. Tho fact that lie found tho "can" made no difference to his opponent, who also holed a longish putt for a nett one. PALMERSTON NORTH GOLF CLUB. GOOD SCORING IN MEDAL HANDICAP. There wero no official competitions at To Matai during the week-end, but in a medal handicap arranged at the club house the best cards were as follows:—■
