The German air-liner Do.X. took off at 4 a.m. to-day for Harbour Grace, Newfoundland, on the first lap of tho return flight to Lake Constance, Switzerland, having arrived here last August with a crew of 14 aboard. Nova Scotia Passed HALIFAX (Nova Scotia), May 19. The Gorman giant flying boat Do.X. passed here at 10.15 a.m. First Hop Completed HARBOUR GRACE, May 19. The Do.X. landed at Dildo, Trinity Bay, East Newfoundland, at 5.113 p.m. to-day. First Woman Solo TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHT. MRS. PUTNAM TAKES OFF. VANCOUVER, May 19. A message from Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, states that Mrs. Amelia Earheart Putnam took off from Tcterboro Airport on Thursday afternoon for Harbour Graco on tho first leg of what she hopes will be the first solo flight by a woman across tho Atlantic. Mrs. Putnam may stop at St. John (New Brunswick) on Thursday night. She is being accompanied on the first Jog by Bernt Balchcn and Eddio Gorski, mechanic, using a fast Lockheed monoplane. A message from SI. John states that Mrs. Putnam arrived there on Thursday evening.
