NOTICE OF COUNCIL’S INTENTION TO STRIKE RATES. . VTOTICE is hereby given that tho Pal- ’ merston North City Council will at an ordinary meeting of the Council, to to held at the City Council Offices situate in the Square, Palmerston North, at 7.30 p.m. on the 6th. day of June, 1932, make and levy the following rates for period commencing bn tho Ist. day of April, 1932, and ending on the 31st. day. of March, 1933, namcly:— __ A GENERAL RATE under Section 77 of “ The Municipal Corporations - Act, 1920,” and Section 47 and also Section 51 of “The Rating Act, 1925,” of twopence and one-quarter of a penny (2i) in the pound on all rateable value on the Valuation Roll of all rateable property within the City of Palmerston North, on tho basis of the unimproved value.

WATER RATES. Ordinary supply under Section. 82 of “The Municipal Corporations' Act, 1920,” as amended by Section 10 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1928,” and under. Section 51 of “The Rating Act, 1925,’’ as. follows:—Oh all lands and buildings in the City of Palmerston North to which water is supplied:— (a) Where the annual rateable value on the Valuation Roll does not exceed twelve pounds, ten shillings (£l2/10/-) a rate of eight shillings

and tenpence. (b) Where such annual rateablo value exceeds twelve pounds, ten shillings a rate of three and one-half per centum of such value. • One-half of the respective water rates mentioned above on all lands and buildings to which water can be but is not supplied situate within one hundred yards from any part of the Waterworks, and on all buildings used as Stores or Warehouses, or for any purposes other than dwelling houses. A LIBRARY RATE under Section 91 of “ The Municipal Corporations Act, 1920,” and Section 51 of ' “The Rating Act, 1925,” of one-ninth (l-9th.) of a penny in the £ on the rateable value on the Valuation Roll of all rateable property within the City of Palmerston North. A HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD RATE under the provisions of “The Hospital and Charitable Aid Institutions Act, 1926,” of foursevenths (4-7ths.) of a penny in the £ on the rateable value on the valuation roll of all rateable property within the City of Palmerston North. That notice is also given under Section 94 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1920,” and Section 51 of “The Rating Act, 1925,” that the proportion of the annually recurring ! special rates made : for providing the Interest and Sinking Funds on the authorised loans will be threepence and seventeen two-hundred and fifty-two seconds of a penny (3 17/252nd5.) in the £ on the basis of the unimproved value for the above-mentioned period. SANITATION FEE. That notice is also given that the uniform fee of seventeen shillings and sixpence for the above-mentioned period for Sanitation purposes will under Section 89 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1920,” and Section 51 of “The Rating Act, 1925,” be made and charged in the said city. That the above rates be payable at the office of the City Council in one instalment on the Ist. day of July, 1932. . .
