National Dairy Show
In the highest conception of its sphere of usefulness the Manawatu and West Coast Agricultural and Pastoral Association stands for the progress and prosperity of the man on the land, and its chief energies have always been bent in that direction. Because its administration and development have always been under tho direction of men of wide vision and practical experience it has steadily risen to ,a pre-eminent position as a most valued institution for the all that is best in agricultural and pastoral pursuits. In conjunction with its wider activities the association has always shown a generous inclination to promote the agricultural education of tho younger generation, and more particularly in the direction of instituting Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs and school garden competitions, so that in their early life children will bo brought more intimately into touch with nature and the science of rearing and growing things, which will be a valuable ass.et to them in after life. The Winter Show schedule has a number of classes open to school children, and it is hoped that parents and school teachers will give them eveiy encouragement to enter.
In the other sections, covering vegetables, roots and farm produce, there are classes to. meet every need. The orchardist and the beekeeper may vie with each other in the display of the products of.their respective industries, and there is no doubt that the commodious halls devoted to the exhibition of dairy and faiyn produce will again be taxed to capacity when the next show opens. Entries for all classes close on May 2S. Schedules are free on application to Mr. W. T. Penny, secretary, P.O. box S 5, Palmerston North.
