Enterprise Being Shipped To-day

ATTEMPTS EXPECTED AT END OP NEXT WEEK

Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Last Night. The final tests of the revolving windscreen which has been fitted to Norman Smith’s racing car, the Fred 11. Stewart Enterprise, were carried out, to-day, when the device proved highly satisfactory. In view of the success of tho tests, it has been arranged to ship the car to Awanui North by tlio auxiliary vessel Motu, which sails at noon to-morrow. Smith’s party, including his mechanics, will leave by motor car as soon as the Enterprise is safely on board and will arrive at Awanui late in the evening. Tho racer will bo unloaded on Sunday morning and will be taken to the garage at Hukatero immediately. An inspection of tho beach will bo made on Monday at the latest by Smith, who will then advise Mr. H. J'. Butcher and other members of the Auckland Automobile Racing Club Ltd., and also Mr. Kelvin Cuff and his staff of electricians as to when he hopes to race. Smith is prepared to run on a fairly wet beach, provided it is smooth, and, there should be no undue delay on this occasion. He will, however, have to wait until a low tide occurs somewhere near midday, to allow the sand to become as dry as possible, and will, therefore, most probably attack the world’s 10 kilometre and five' mile records about next Thursday or Friday, and the one-mile land speed record the following day.
