GOOD GENERAL DEMAND. United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph. —Copyright. LONDON, April 20. Offerings at the wool sales io-da) were 11,097 bales, including 5872 New Zealand; about 039 bales were sold. Good general demand was met with, and the offerings were well cleared to both Home and Continental buyers at full late rates.. There were some withdrawals ol merinos owing to high selling limits placed on them. New Zealand greasies, “Matapiro,” sold highest BJd, average 6Jd; halfbred, “Woodside,” highest lGd, average 15 Id. PROSPECTS BRIGHTER.
Messrs Murray, Roberts, and Co., Ltd., arc in receipt of the following wool market cablegram from their London agents, dated 20th instant: 1m-
proved competition; all descriptions show hardening tendency.” Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from agents, dated April 19, 1932: The auctions are proceeding at the level of the opening day, but owing to the limited quantity offer: g, the market tendency is sligjitly in favour of sellers.
The following prices are current.:— Merino: Super 10*d to lid per lb; average Sd to 81 d; fine halfbred: Super 56/58’s lOld to IHd, average 9d to 91d; medium: super 50/56’s /Id to Sid, average Old to 7d; coarse: Super 48/ 50’s (5d to Old, average 5Jd to ojd; fino crossbred: Super 46/4S’s sijd to Old, average 5d to old; medium: Super 44/46’s s(d to Old, average 4|d to sjd; coarse: Super 40/44’s sjd to 5Jd, aveiage 4Jd to 4id; low: Super 36/40’s od to sld, average 4d to 4-jd; pieces 3Jcl to 4jd; bellies 3LI to 4d; locks 2d to 2 Li.
