Croquet
CLOSING DAY AT NORTHERN GREENS. Members of tlie Northern Club held their Jinal gala day yesterday, a largo number of players participating in a most enjoyable day’s play. Progressive croquet occupied the players all day, the prize for the highest score being won by Mrs. Langford, while the prizewinners for the hidden numbers were Mesdamcs E. Palmer and Tucker and Miss Read. During the afternoon Mrs. Mayes, in the absence of the president, Mr. A. P. Stewart, presented tho cups won during the season as follow: Laurie Cup (handicap): Mrs. 0. Bryan. Bryant Cup (C): Mrs. P. Anderson. Opportunity was also taken by Mrs. Mayes to present Airs. H. Brown, the popular secretary, with a handbag from tho members in appreciation of her valuable services throughout the season. A bouquet and posy, which had been made by Mesdamcs Tapp and Mayes were also presented to Airs. Brown, who briefly expressed her thanks to the members for their gifts and the committee for their help during the year.
