Mrs. Barracdough (Auckland) is the guest of Mr. and Mrs, Y. T. Dibble, Mere Mcro avenue. Mr. P. A. McHardy and Miss G. M«Hardv, “Aramoana” (Waipawa), are visitors to Palmerston North. A Northern pair will journey to Dannevirke on Tuesday in an effort to bring the hoops back. This will be the final match in this scries. The many friends of Miss C. Ashton, general secretary of the Y.W.C.A., Palmerston North, wiil be glad to learn that she was able to be up and about yosterday after her recent indisposition.
The first dance of the season of the Awahuri Ilall Committee was held on Tuesday evening, when about 100 people assembled at the hall, whore euchre was also played. Mr. A. Michclson was the M.C. for the old time and modern dances, for which Mrs. A. H. Marshall contributed an extra. The euchro competitions wore in the hands of Mr. A. Henson. The men’s prizes ■wore won by Mr. T. Tutty and Mr. M. George, and the ladies’ prizes by Mrs. B. K. Bennett and Mrs, A. 11. Marshall. During the evening the ladies’ committee served supper.
